Located within easy driving distance of Johannesburg and Pretoria, Pilanesberg offers an exciting opportunity to encounter African wildlife in its natural environment without the need for a multi-day safari.
Your day combines comfortable road transportation with an immersive game-viewing experience in the reserve. Keep your eyes open for lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo, as well as giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, antelope, hippos, crocodiles and a wide variety of birdlife. The park is also known for species such as cheetah and African wild dog.
Early morning and late-afternoon periods are particularly rewarding for wildlife viewing, when temperatures are cooler and many animals are more active.
Whether this is your first African safari or an opportunity to add another wildlife experience to your South African journey, the Pilanesberg Full-Day Safari offers an unforgettable day in the bush.

Travel Itinerary
10 hours - Itinerary
Hotel Pickup – Johannesburg or Pretoria
Your Jaribu Tours & Safaris representative will collect you from your hotel, apartment, residence or other agreed pickup location in Johannesburg or Pretoria.
An early departure is recommended so that you can maximise your time in the reserve and experience the cooler morning period when wildlife activity can be particularly rewarding.
2. Travel to Pilanesberg National Park
Relax during the drive from Johannesburg or Pretoria towards Pilanesberg.
The journey takes you away from the urban environment and into the North West Province, where the landscape gradually changes to African bushveld.
3. Enter Pilanesberg National Park
After entering the park, the safari begins.
Your guide will use their knowledge of the reserve, wildlife behaviour and current sightings to help locate animals and provide information about the surrounding environment.
4. Morning Game Drive
Set out on a game drive through the reserve in search of wildlife.
Depending on the day and conditions, you may encounter elephants, rhinos, lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, antelope and many other species.
Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, as animals move freely through their natural environment, but the search itself is an important part of the safari experience.
5. Midday Break / Lunch
Take a break during the middle of the day for refreshments and lunch.
Lunch arrangement: Depending on the selected Jaribu package, lunch may be included at a designated restaurant/lodge/rest camp or available at your own expense.
6. Afternoon Game Drive
Continue exploring Pilanesberg during the afternoon.
Your guide will continue searching for wildlife while taking advantage of changing animal activity and favourable viewing conditions.
This is another opportunity to look for species that may have been missed during the morning drive and to enjoy the changing light across the African landscape.
7. Exit Pilanesberg
After the safari experience, leave the reserve and begin the journey back to Johannesburg or Pretoria.
8. Hotel Drop-Off
Arrive back at your hotel, apartment, residence or agreed drop-off location in Johannesburg or Pretoria, concluding your full-day safari experience.
Please note: The itinerary is approximate. Actual departure and return times may vary according to the selected safari option, park access, traffic, weather, wildlife activity and operational conditions.
